Quiet posting period, still swimming

No time for too much blogging or passing comments on forums recently. Have been working a few more extra hours/days to pay for the swimming and holidays which are fast approaching which has reduced my training time as well as finger tapping time. Weight wise I have been keeping between 15.12 and 16.03 for the last 5-6 weeks so no real dramatic losses. Still have my October target of at least 14.13 by end of Oct. Training has been ok June managed 45,550 giving me 283,250 metres (171 miles) at the half way mark of the year. The next couple of months will be key to keeping the training going as I have two separate weeks holidays and a few weekend breaks planned which will defiantly reduce training opportunities but hopefully I will be able to keep the metres up around 40k per month. Good swimming at Blackpool yesterday at the North West Masters Sprints. Season best for 100IM of 1.15 ish so getting closer to my old suit time. A PB for my 100 back, 1:19.3, beats my old suit time but bear in mind I have not swam much backstroke through my shoulder problems over the last 2 years. Finally season bests for 50 fly and 50 free although not quicker than my LC converted times at Sheffield, pretty close though. No more meets til September now so train, train, train.

Planning the rest of the year!

Another longer than needed gap in my postings. Hopefully the blogs will be fresher and not as repetitive as they sometimes have been. My weight loss has not changed much. Managed to put on the 7 lbs from the week before the British and the following 3 weeks. Since then have not eaten very healthfully but have managed to lose 4 lbs of the increase. The target is to reduce to something starting with 14 stone by October in time for the Nationals at Sheffield. Currently 16.02 so a minimum of 17 lbs in 5 months. Training has been going really well, finally feel somewhere near natural, although still takes some time for my shoulders to loosen up. For the first time in three years I have managed to train through the period from December to June with no major breaks or new parts of the body falling apart. The shoulder although not likely ever to be back to full flexibility has recovered and I can still swim all four strokes. Hoping to improve my 100 back later in the year. This time last year I had managed to train only around 132550 metres by the end of May. This year I am up to 237700 metres. 2012. Jan 48900, Feb 49925, Mar 41600, April 48050, May 49625. Way above my original target so I have reevaluated my target to 500,000 metres for the year. Just hope I can carry the swimming through the rest of this year and into next. So far this year I believe I am getting fitter which is improving my 100-400 metre events but my sprinting is currently slower. I have now started to work on improving my stroke technique for free and back. Am completing drills during every session so hopefully the speed will return eventually. Lastly have been trying to put together a programme for the rest of the year. It's very difficult when the number of events during the summer months are few and far between especially as one conflicts with my summer holiday in Spain. The plan is to swim at the North West Masters at Blackpool end of June and then a gap to the Midlands masters in Sept as well as the Barnet distance in the same month building to the Nationals in October. Just need to keep fit and healthy.

British Masters extra post!

Spent the last three days in Sheffield at the British Masters Long Course. Should be a guide to how my improved training regime and loss of weight is letting me swim faster (or not). In summary the Championships were very successful for Gloucester Masters and me with one or two provisions. My 100 and 200 times are getting faster which is great news, but I am still struggling to get any more speed over 50metres sprints. I have come to the conclusion that I need to change my technique to improve my 'catch and pull' through the water. Overall everyone from Gloucester had at least one medal. I managed two silver and a bronze with two 4th's. In addition I was part of the 4x200 freestyle relay (200+) which won with a new British Record. My fitness is improving but not as fast as I would like. I did manage to swim a 200 free followed by a 200 IM within 30 minutes this morning which for a swimmer who last year would only manage two events in one session if at least one was a 50 and the other a 50 or at best a 100m. In terms of comparison to this time last year my sprints are similar speeds. My 100's about 1-2 secs faster and 200's 5-6 secs faster. Looking forward to a summer of training and improvements through to the Nationals in October. Then will be a better comparison of how well I am doing. My problem is identifying which changes in my life are helping the most, weight, training, change of diet, type of training, stroke technique and so on. Next target stroke technique. Any suggestions let me know please..

Deserted my Blog for nearly three weeks

Well I really did have not much to say!! A quick summay of the last 2 weeks. Held my weight at 15.12/13 for the first week and since then it has crept up to 16.01. A bit pissed at this but won't be doing anything drastic to cure it until after the British Masters this weekend. Training has been good over 10K for the last two weeks . 48K for April and 142,780 metres for the first 4 months of the year. Last week saw an increase in sprinting with this week as a taper for the forthcoming weekend. This is the first time I have had a 'proper' planned taper before an event so time will tell if it does any good. At my last competition I seemed to be lacking 50m sprint speed and as the 50 is normally my best chance of medals I have been concerned. Swimming 50, 100, & 200 Free, 50 Fly, 200 Medley and another 200 free in the 4x200 relay. A busy weekend for me so I had better not get on the beer Friday or Saturday night. (Maybe one or two halves!) The only negative I have is a sore and stiff neck muscle for the last two weeks. Not sure what has caused it but the Doc said today to use heat packs and sports massage, no link to the shoulder surgery which is good news.must make sure I warm up and down well for the weekend. Will post results on Sunday or before if I remember to toe the iPad with me.

Struggling to make these posts fresh every week.

Nothing really different or exciting this week and no meet performance to pass on to the viewing masses who look forward to my Saturday ramblings. I guess the main reason for my blog is not to entertain the masses but to use it as a tool to ensure I stick to my targets of training and don't give up on the diet. I will be a little embarrassed if I fail in either endeavour. The final piece of the jigsaw to swim faster hopefully will be a result of achieving the first two targets. I am swimming at my home clubs Masters event tomorrow so may see some results based on where I am so far this year. Anyway now for the boring bits. Diet was OK. After my record 5lbs loss last week I managed to stay the same at 15.13. Good to keep it under 16 and not fall down totally. Too many bread based Snacks this week but will be going for a a good diet week starting today. Very good training week, best metres total of the year so far at 14500 over two club sessions and four public lane sessions. Did a little more sprinting this week to try and sharpen up as I have managed to enter all sprint events tomorrow. 100 and 50 free, 50 breast and 50 back. I would really like at least a couple of PB's (post suit). not ready yet to post targets for all to see yet. I feel fairly quick but not showing in competition yet. Away from my favoured events to my devils stroke of breast stroke. I have changed the technique slightly and expect to to get under 40 secs tomorrow for the 50M. I managed a 38.?? with a suit 3 years ago but not broken 40 since. Managed 41.0 for long course at Swansea so fingers crossed. Will blog results early next week (Good or Bad).

Work and training don't mix but does help the diet.

Mrs T asked me to look after the incoming goods warehouse for the week. The only disadvantage (and quite a major one) is that I do not have a fork lift licence. I could though call on guys from the shifts when I needed to off load deliveries or move pallets around. The problem Was that empty and full pallets need moving all the time so I spent a lot of time with a hand pallet truck pulling heavy pallets or moving piles of empty ones around the storage yard. This was excellent excercise but was really hard work for this old man and then of course I decided to try and train in the evenings. Travelled all the way to Gloucester on Tues night for a club session and had to finish the session after 30 mins as my feet and legs were cramping continuously and no amount of steady swimming would work the cramps off. I do think the work helped with some core fitness though. Still managed around 9K in the week, below where I should be but a good on par result. This week also saw me targeting some improved weight loss as I felt recently that I had been slipping away from my healthy diet and eating too many treats and crap. We made two batches of really good vegetable soup which made up my main meal each day (with no bread). Breakfast was a big bowl of porridge . These I found very filling and snacked in-between with fruit and yogurt. Anyway it seems to work and I managed 5lbs loss this week which took me below 16 stone for the first time in At least 25 years. 15.13. Another stone to go and I think I will be fairly happy. Now to see if this weight loss transfers to faster swimming. No competitions this weekend but our own Gloucester's Open Masters Meet next weekend. Will be looking for a fast 100 Free and 50 back. Entries in for the British Masters (LC) at Sheffield this week. Only 4 weeks away.

A Steady Eddie Week, Feeling Good.

A steady week in deed! Struggled to train at my best while working on my feet all day but managed to work three days without missing any planned sessions. In fact metres wise my best week this year at 14450 metres. The month was down from around 49k in Jan and Feb to 41600 in March. So after the first quarter of the year 140025 metres, way ahead of my original plan. I just need to make sure I keep a good quality training going and not do metres for the sake of achieving a high total. Thought I would lose at least 2 lbs this week but only managed a single lbs loss to take me to 16.04. It is taking me along time to get down to Under 16 stone but should get there in 3-4 weeks.. No swimming meet this weekend or the next one. Gives me the chance to build as much training as I can between now and the British Champs at Sheffield in May. Coach tells me we are doing a weeks taper for this event and keeping the long taper for the Nationals also at Sheffield in October. I have my personal warm weather training in July. We have booked a friends Villa for a week in Spain which has a shared 25 metre pool. Hoping I can swim evenings and mornings with plenty of room. Will be asking the coach for 8-9 sessions to follow. Am working Mon to Fri next week so training will be a challenge. I admire anyone who does a physical role and trains full time as well. I am lucky that generally I only work 2-4 days a week so have energy left for training most of the time.

Monday 26 March 2012

Ups and Downs.

After getting my diet back on track last week I managed to hold the weight at 16.05 so not a total cock up on the diet front but I need a diet boost to get me down to the weights starting with 15. This was always my initial target cause I am pretty sure it has been at least 25 years since I last saw a 15 at the start of my weight. I also worked Monday to Thursday and did a few hours on Thursday hoping this would have helped the weight loss but I think it just made me hungry in the evening. Because I was competing last Sunday I did not train and then while working I was too knackered to train also. I did take a 1200 metre gentle paddle on Wed evening and finally managed a club session on Thursday. Finally a local public lane session on Friday gave me a 6900 metre week the lowest this year. I think it did help me with my swims at the weekend though, with the easy swimming week. This brings me onto the ups for the week. Swam at Millfield School in the Royal Navy Masters Open Meet on Sunday. Of course with the clocks going forward on Sunday morning I hd a shortage of sleep especially as my neighbour held a family party at the village hall on Saturday night (which is opposite my house) I think I managed around 5 hours sleep before rising at 0530 and leaving at 0600. A quick stop for breakfast and arrived in plenty of time for the 0900 warm up. Great meet this one and with record attendance again this year. I swam 200 free with a 0.01 PB beating my time from Sheffield last year.I also managed a Post suit PB for the 100 fly, a Seasons best for the 50 free (even though the automatic timing failed for this heat) and the only less than good swim for the 50 back. I had been training to improve my starts and turns by increasing My under water sections but failed by starting too shallow then wallowing about between fly and back kicks while almost at the surface. The turn was slightly better but more practise required I think. Already into this weeks training with a lunch time session today and am now sat on my sun lounger in shorts updating my blog and my training/competition records on the iPad. Think I might have a doze now no work til Thurs.

Happier week and happier Blog.

Well I managed to get the 3lbs weight back off plus an extra one to keep me smiling. Week 11 -4lbs down to 16.05. Back on track, now the difficult bit to keep it going to the end of the year. Swam at the Welsh Masters Open over the weekend. Poor turnout by Gloucester Masters for various reasons but hopefully Will have better turnouts for future events. Very happy with my swims, all the times quicker than similar dates last year and not far off my seasons bests last year at Nationals. I do however need to sort my Breaststroke technique out as I seem to work so hard and get no where! Thought the Swansea Pool was excellent and the meet was organised very well. It's a pity more swimmers from the Midlands and South do not attend. The meet should easily rival the SE Masters meet at Crawley. The pool is certainly better in all aspects. The Wales asa need to push this meet far more than they currently do. Managed to eat pretty well to start the week especially as I was away in a Hotel at the weekend. Fellow swimmers taking me to an all you eat place for dinner on Saturday made me work hard at restraint. Hoping to keep the diet working for the rest of the week. Working 3 days this week so training will be a little reduced but will be swimming 3 sessions up until Saturday before swimming the Royal Navy Masters Meet at Millfield School on Sunday. Another chance to improve my 50 free and a first try for a 100 fly this year. Also doing a 200 fs and a 50 back. Should be fun. Training metre's down last week and likely to be down again this week. Oh well will try and keep the quality of the sessions I do up as high as possible.

Don't Blog Bad News ?? Changed my mind.

I missed my blog on Saturday. I was not happy with the fact that I had no good news to blog!
But life is not always a bed of roses and as with any challenge they don't always go to plan.
Historically I have responded poorly to piss poor performance which is why my fight to improve my fitness, speed and weight has not always gone smoothly and sometimes failed .
So the news from last week. Managed to put on another couple of lbs to add to the one from the previous week. In summary 3 lbs increase over 2 weeks. Training was also a fuck up. After my Sunday club session my shoulder was a little sore, I trained in public lanes on Monday and managed only a few hundred metres before my shoulder seized up. The rest of the week I ice packed the shoulder and rested it with no swimming.
I really thought something had gone again, I was all ready to give up the diet give up swimming and go back to playing golf cause I definitely do not want any more surgery. I checked in with my doctor who thought it was a little over exertion causing inflammation of the rotator cuff tendon.
Luckily by Friday the shoulder felt a lot better and I swam gently on last Friday and Saturday then went back to a club session on Sunday. Although the shoulder is still a little sore and backstroke is painful it has improved remarkably. I am planning to swim less sessions but ensure the quality of the ones I do is high. So panic over for now. I seemed to have quickly lost the 3 lbs of increased weight so hope by the end of week 11 this Saturday I will be back to where I was in week 8 (16.06) or better with luck.
I know exactly why I lost control for a a week or so but am back on plan. Looking forward to my starting with 15. stone in a few weeks.
Swimming at Swansea at the Wales Masters Open Meet this weekend, hoping my rest and improved run up to the weekend gives me a little more speed than I have managed so far this year. Have promised myself a new pair of racing Jammers as a reward. That's better than a blow out meal eh?

Sunday 4 March 2012

9th week of my diet ! Slow swims at Bracknell.

Well after 8 weeks of consistent weight loss, sometimes undeservedly I came unstuck this week. I think because I have got away with poor diet on a number of occasions I finally overdid the treats and lazy eating this week and put a lb on. Back up to 16.07. A total of 18lbs. I will make certain I at least reverse this gain during the next 6 days.
Training still OK as bogged during the week. 10K total for week even with a day off on Friday and a competition on Saturday. Swam a 100IM, and another 50 free and 50 fly. Not very impressed with any of the times although the IM was the first for a year and just a little faster than the last one but a long way from a PB the fly was slower than two weeks ago the Free just better than two weeks ago.
I am hoping I am swimming slow pools and my continuous training is not helping my speed.
I must check like for like results from last year.
This week should be fun. Working Monday and Wednesday and off to the Olympic Pool on Thurs to watch some proper swimmers at the trials. May struggle to get my metres in but hopefully OK.
Off to training tonight, need to chat to the coach re basic speed and where it might have gone.

Thursday 1 March 2012

Feburary Training. Two months gone already!

A quick midweek post as it is the end of the month. Training still going relatively well except that I don't FEEL that I am getting fitter or faster but I must have faith.
Managed a small increase from Jan with 49,525 metres giving me a year to date of 98425 metres.
I should break through the 100,000 metre mark in about an hours time after a short lunch time session. My Feb total was completed in 20 sessions so am averaging 5 swims per week.
I have swam two open meets, one LC and one SC with my third meet this Saturday at Bracknell.
I will take tomorrow as a rest day before driving to Bracknell on Saturday morning.

Saturday 25 February 2012

A better week all round.

I nearly put a BUT in this weeks title but decided I can be a little negative at times, so this should be a positive outlook on the past week and looking forward to next week.
After a struggle with diet and training last week I managed an all round improvement. Another 2 lbs off the Tewson frame (19 in total) tempted to say it should have been better but I won't! Training wise, only made it to Gloucester once as I had 3 days working this week (Good core training) but with two sessions on Thursday and another one later this morning should make it to around 12k for the week. We had an interesting kick session on Thursday. Apart from the 600 warm up and the last 200 of the swim down it was all kick with sprints followed by active recovery. Considering I had done 2k at lunch tome I was quite impressed that I completed the session without cramping.
This coming week will start Sunday with a club session at Gloucester. Have booked a couple of days work at the start of the week leaving me time to swim up to the weekend and the Bracknell Masters meet next Saturday. Looking forward to my first IM for over 12 months. I have also entered the Royal Navy Meet and our own Gloucester Open this week. These will follow the Welsh Open in 4 weeks time.
I just hope now that all the work and weight loss allows me to swim a little faster later in the year.

Piss Poor Preparation, Do Flu Jabs work?

An interesting week. Started trying to double my diet effort as I knew I was in trouble after the previous weekend. As I said last week , I would have been happy to break even but somehow still managed to lose another lb. That's 17 in total so am quite happy. Worked on Wednesday so didn't train and then on Thurs. I really did not feel well, a virus of some description so didn't swim again. Had some work offered for Friday but didn't feel up to it. I did feel a little better Fri Pm so went for a short swim which seemed to make me relapse. Saturday I felt really ill all day. Decided not to swim at Wolverhampton on Sunday. Woke up Sunday morning and felt Ok ish so I went back on decision and drove to the West Midlands to swim my 3 sprints.

Strange week. My training metres were the lowest of the year with only 3 sessions and 8k.
Didn't feel great at Wolverhampton but swam OK. No reaction to shoulder even swimming sprints on Fly and Back.

Hopefully my preparation for Bracknell in 2 weeks and the Welsh open in four will be a little better. Onwards and upwards.

Monday 13 February 2012

Good and not so Good

Well my blog this week is a few days late for a couple of reasons. Firstly have been away all weekend visiting my grand-daughter and daughter. I did take the iPad but just did not have time to blog. In addition I had my follow up appointment with my shoulder consultant today so thought I could put all the news together. I just just hope this blog does not carry on for too long.
Good training week with 13,000 metres which included a two session day on Tues. I did struggle during the second session at Gloucester so this week my two session day is today with both sessions being in public lanes. Trying to make up for no swimming at all over the weekend.
Diet was a struggle last week but still managed a single lb. With an early weigh on Friday. My diet over the weekend was pretty poor so am hoping I can at least not put weight on this week. It might be another struggle. As soon as I get away from my normal routine I seem to get my silly diet head on and binge. Am now being silly at the opposite end of the scale and eating very little for a couple of days to try and recover the situation.
Will be working 2 x 12 HR shifts this week and have the Staffordshire masters next Sunday. I will be training straight through although Saturdays training may be reduced to Starts and Turns. Will be swimming 50's only to check out how much speed I have in the arms. Should be fun.
Good meeting with my shoulder consultant today. He says my flexibility in the shoulder is better than at any time in the last two years. He was happy to sign me off and wished me luck with the swimming. He also mentioned the very difficult SLAP repair for the first op. He didn't mention it was very difficult at the time !!!!!
Let's hope the shoulders stay at least as good as they are now and I can get fitter and faster over the next 12-24 months. I still feel I should be able to beat my body suit times of 3 years ago. I will need to If I expect any more winners medals at Nationals.
I really can't just wait two more years to move up another age group, I need to compete with these younger guys coming into this age group . If I take a second or so off last years times I might just make it.

Saturday 4 February 2012

Saturday update.

A strange week on all counts. On paper should not really have lost weight but still dropped another 2 lbs. That's the first stone and gives a total of 15 lbs in 5 weeks. Need to sort my self out this week and get back to eating to plan and keep away from daily Market visits. Perhaps the promised snow will keep me in, although I can't afford to miss training.
10,000 metres plus what I manage today if(if any) this week and I swam about 700 metres of backstroke during a club session on Thursday. Not totally pain free but fairly comfortable. I will find out soon how the change in technique will affect my pace. I will be very happy if I can swim backstroke competitively.
Finally I accepted a days work yesterday, a 12 hours shift on my feet which seems to have upset my shoulder a little and given me a sore back. Hopefully a gentle swim session later will ease my poor body.I must find a casual job with a chair but then again I started this manual one to help get me fitter.
Here's hoping the snow does not upset mine and others swimmers training plans too much over the coming week.

Wednesday 1 February 2012

End of Month bonus blog.

I have reached the end of the first month of the new year with old challenges, thought I would treat you all to an extra Blog. Managed a total of 48,900 metres in Janurary. I managed to swim 24 days out of 31 which included two weeks of six sessions per week.
I will be working a little more going forward which will reduce the sessions and metres but hoping to keep the higher metres for another month or so. Hope to convert the metres to higher quality sessions later in the year. Might have to plan double session days for days off.
After the slight blow out of calories over the weekend am back to less than 2000 cals per day and working at getting rid of the fat part of fat swimmer.
Finally, after the pain free swimming at the weekend, I followed up with some back and medley training last night. The shoulder reacted well to the backstroke and almost pain free with a small change to my technique. Trying hard to roll from the hip and shoulder and it seems to take the pressure away from the rotator cuff tendon which is causing the pain.
Have entered a 50 Back in a few weeks time which will be the first back stroke for nearly 12 months. Time will tell.

Monday 30 January 2012

Belated blog due to first competition of the year.

We took the iPad with us which proved very useful and stopped Mrs T getting bored between watching the Royal Navy boys warm up and the occasional swim by Tewson. I on the other hand had no time to complete my weekly blog. I am always amazed how little spare time we have when away swimming. In addition this weekend, my son and his girlfriend came up to Crawley from Dover on Saturday and we all went for a low calorie meal at TGI's in the evening.

This brings me on to my diet and calorie control. I left with great intentions of sticking to my plans for the weekend. Failure big time. I think I averaged 3200 cals a day Fri-Sun.
Oh well back at it today. Last week I managed another 2 lbs for a total of 13lbs lost. I really need to keep at it as I realised how I look from the videos Mrs T took of two of my swims on Sunday. (blobby Tewson)

I was a little disappointed with my swims especially the 200 free. Not as fit as I thought but I guess I have only had 4 weeks of proper training since the shoulder surgery and I trained right up to the weekend. I also treated the weekend as a fun break so ate and drank far to much. At least the swims told me where I am and the 400 free and 100 breast were on par with last year. Generally a happy Tewson.

Training totals are looking good 44,000 metres so far with 2 sessions to go. The best news is that I had no shoulder pain during my swims, even for the sprint 50 fly. I just need to try backstroke out some time soon.

Saturday 21 January 2012

Good week all round.

My blog is becoming a weekly affair each Saturday. Saturday is also my swimming rest day and weigh day. Looks like my 4-5 lbs a week weight loss has come to an end and now the grind of 2-3 a week starts. Just a 2lb loss giving me a total of 11lbs in three weeks. Pretty happy really but like any diet they never work quickly enough for most fatties like me. I need to make sure I keep at it for the next three months.
Training has also gone quite well. Over 13k for the week and over 33k for the month so far. I gave the stroke development session on Tues a miss as last week it gave my shoulder some jip for a couple of days. The shoulder still takes a fair bit of time to loosen up but have been stretching before and after swimming which seems to help. Also been avoiding backstroke so the other 3 strokes are working quite well. How well and how fit I am will be revealed next weekend at Crawley. Not looking forward to the 400 but I am for the meet in general.
The other plus for the week has been lots of kick work at Gloucester and during lane swimming. Legs are definately working better for longer. Hope this translates to better racing.
Two days at a hotel next weekend.that will test my resolve at Breakfast and Dinner. Weighing in will be early next Friday.

All good news but shoulder concerns remain!

A good week again for me but somehow I'm not over happy. Lots of positives, I managed to swim 6 days running up to yestrday but this is countered by low metres per session as I am still protecting the shoulder. Was very sore after Tues club session , I think due to medley sets and drills which I am not really ready for. Back to the positives, over 20k in the first two weeks of the year and soreness now OK after some steady sessions Wed and Thurs with a hard working 2.2k yesterday to finish the week.
Weight wise a good 2nd week. I had concerns that I was not eating enough carbs to allow me to train well so increased carbs from Wed onwards. Also found a great website myfitnesspal which helps with calorie counting and setting allowances for exercise . The result this week was a loss of another 4lbs giving me a 9lbs loss over the first two weeks. Back down to 17.02 which has removed all my recent gains of the last 3 months. The aim now is to average 2-3lbs a week for the next month or so.
Not sure how I am with improved fitness, I guess it is difficult to judge week by week? My shoulder seems to take a long time to warm up before pain disappears. I am planning to increase my stretch and warm up before swimming to see if it helps. I am told I need to introduce a warm down set of stretches to aid recovery. Need some advice on these. Time to ask the forums me thinks.
Hoping the shoulder continues to improve but am always concerned it won't, only time will tell.

New year New Plans

Well it's only the first week of the year but all going to plan. I ended 2011 with a total of just over 353K so looking to inrease this by 50 K or so. Having said that I will be happy if I do the same sort of total but increase the quality of some sessions. The club sessions are fine but I still skive when doing extra sessions during public lanes. Lots of garbage metres or Tesco Sessions (as described elsewhere).
Completed two club sessions this week and two public lane sessions completing a total of 8850. This time last year I was not training at all so am ahead of game and should get some decent fitness metres in.
I also at last sorted my head re weight loss. Had managed to creep up to 17.11 during the Christmas and New Year period. Based on my target last year of losing at least a stone I managed to put one on. Total bloody failure. Onwards and upwards this year, I have a new plan and this week it went well (the first weeks of diets always do). Down to 17.06 so need to keep the losses going for the next 8 weeks. I had considered not posting the details of weight loss but felt that by publishing the details I could not hide the failures or successes.
First competition 28th Jan at Crawley. interesting range of events for me.
400 free, 200 free, 100 Breast, and 50 fly. Really have no idea where I am,speed or fitness wise but all competition is more experience evenly I am not quite on the button.
No training today (Sat) but back to Gloucester tomorrow. Should be doing the round trip 3 times this week with 2 public lane sessions.

Targets are still to get Fitter, Faster and quicker. If the shoulder keeps improving I might succeed in more than one of these this year.
